A bigger kitchen is something that is on many peoples wish lists. The ability to combine an area for dining with preparing/cooking food makes for a much more sociable space that can bring families together. That’s what some of our recent clients did. They had a stunning new kitchen extension off the back of the house. This enabled them to have enough space to have a decent size kitchen, a dining table and lounging area, where each member of the family could be brought together in the same room.
With a fabulous new space to fill, one of the first things needed was new flooring. Having such a multi-functional room meant that the flooring needed to combine something that looked great but that was hardwearing and easy to clean in order to cope with the high level of foot traffic and potential spillages.
Our clients opted to have luxury vinyl tiles and chose Polyflor Camaro Cambridge Oak. Our clients decided to use the same flooring in the entrance hall and downstairs toilet, linking the rooms together.
As a luxury vinyl tile fitter in Bredbury, we know that a key aspect of fitting flooring is the preparation of the subbase. In this instance we fitted sp101 plywood first and then spread a layer of flexible screed across the top. This ensures that there is a smooth, level base on which to lay the luxury vinyl tiles.
With the kitchen cupboards in place but scuff boards not yet fitted, we were able to install the flooring up to, but not underneath the cupboards. We also cut around the skirting boards. We laid the tiles in a parquet pattern with a straight-line trim around the edge of each room. The tiles were laid onto a vinyl adhesive to secure them firmly into place.
