Karndean Fitter in Marple Bridge

Cheadle Floors recently installed new flooring in the kitchen/dining area of a house in Marple Bridge and what a transformation this was! As you can see from the photographs included, the dining area had a wooden floor and the kitchen was tiled, the areas being clearly defined by the different flooring. Having the two types of flooring made the spaces feel a little disjointed.

Our clients decided to have Karndean luxury vinyl flooring throughout both the kitchen and dining areas, seamlessly linking them together and as a Karndean fitter in Marple Bridge they got in touch with Cheadle Floors. The new flooring updated the rooms giving them a fresh, modern feel as well as making the whole space feel bigger. Luxury vinyl flooring is a great choice for kitchens and dining rooms as the floor can be wiped and cleaned easily, as well as being highly durable.

We started the installation process by initially taking up the existing flooring in the dining room and disposing of it. We left the original ceramic tiles in place. These could not be removed because of the existing kitchen units so we applied a smoothing compound over the tiles. Sometimes, depending on the flooring, it is better to lay over it rather than remove it.

The next part of the process involved fitting 9mm plywood to create a good sub base in the dining room. The sub base in the dining room and kitchen was at two different levels so using the smoothing compound and plywood ensured that they were at the same level before the Karndean luxury vinyl flooring was fitted into place over the top.

Our clients opted for Hickory Nutmeg from the Karndean Art Select collection. As you can see from the photographs this vinyl flooring features the look and feel of real wood but is a great alternative to the real thing. It’s a beautiful warm brown colour. The flooring was hard to match to the end panels in the kitchen which created a challenge but as an experienced Karndean fitter in Marple Bridge Cheadle Floors was able to overcome this and we had another happy customer.
