We began installing the Amtico flooring in Prestbury by first of all lifting the floor so that it was the same height as the floors in the kitchen and WC in order to ensure fluidity between the rooms. Our client also asked for the floor to be insulated so we used board made of extruded polystyrene. This is a high-performance rigid insulation which has a closed cell structure meaning it is unaffected by moisture. The board was faced on both sides with a fibreglass mesh that was embedded into a thin cement polymer mortar which was screwed down to the wood floor and then topped with a flexible screed.
The top floor was added which was the Amtico Designer Choice Parquet Timber and finally a fabricated matting frame was fixed and stained on site. You can see the brand-new floor and what it looked like in the hallway, from the photographs included.
