New Karndean flooring fitted in Stockport

Beautiful New Extension with New Karndean Flooring Throughout!

One of the most popular building projects for many homes is a kitchen diner extension. A kitchen diner is now the centre of any home, where families can enjoy spending time together while also doing different activities whether it’s cooking, watching the television, sitting in front of the computer or simply relaxing in a comfortable chair. Combined with a need for more space, there are now many clever design ideas which create these open plan living areas.

Our recent clients in Stockport needed to have new flooring in Stockport as they decided to extend the back of their house to create a kitchen diner. The extension included big glass doors that not only linked the inside of the house with the garden but created easy access to it. To allow additional light into the room three Velux windows were also included. You can see from the photographs that this created a light filled cooking and socialising space.

Once the building work had been completed and the kitchen units were in place, as a Karndean floor fitter in Stockport, we were able to fit the floor. The subfloor we a mixture of concrete and floorboards so we used a flexible Uzin 196 screed. This is a self-levelling compound which is rapid setting and is fibre reinforced making it a good base to put the top layer of flooring on. As part of the subfloor preparation we used Uzin pe630 primer in conjunction with Uzin 196 screed.

To create a fluid look that seamlessly linked each area of the room and the WC which was also included in the extension, our clients chose the same type of Karndean flooring throughout the extension. As a multi-functional space which is probably the busiest room in the home, the flooring in Stockport needed to be able to adapt to the many functions of the room and the high footfall. With this in mind our clients chose to have French Oak from the Van Gogh range of Karndean flooring.
